The Dominican Republic is one of the most beautiful countries in the world, combining breathtaking beaches with lush greenery, mountainous regions and vivacious culture. So make sure you get out there and explore! Below is our list of 10 things not to be missed while on vacation in Punta Cana:

Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana (duh).
The perfect family getaway, this resort is the ultimate combination of luxury and playtime. Stay in stylish accommodations, dine at 10 Gourmet Inclusive restaurants and meet, greet, hug and dance with your favorite characters. All on the golden sands of Uvero Alto’s beautiful beach.

Santo Domingo’s Zona Colonial
The capital city of Santo Domingo is bustling with sights to see, including the historic Zona Colonial. The oldest known European settlement in the New World, it’s home to several historic landmarks including the oldest military fortress in the Americas and Catedral Premera de America- the Americas’ first church. In addition to cultural spots, the city is known for its shops, local restaurants and vibrant entertainment.

Museum of Rum and Sugarcane
While in the town of Santo Domingo, pay a visit to the Museum of Rum and Sugarcane, a fun experience that’s a little off the beaten tourist path. Sugarcane and rum are both specialties and important exports for the country, and have played an important role in Dominican history. The museum, which is a historic 16th century building, provides a history of the products, explains the process of making them and of course lets you sample!

Visit Altos de Chavon
Located in La Romana, this quaint cobblestone town transports you to a Mediterranean village from the 17th century. Find local shops with artisan jewels and goods, charming cafes, chapels, art galleries and museums all elevated atop a river with stunning mountain vistas.

Get Slimed
Families at Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana have plenty of opportunities to join in the ultimate green activity – getting SLIMED! Every day, head over to Nickelodeon Place for morning Slime lotteries in the Slimulator and afternoon Mass Slimings at Aqua Nick – both complete with song & dance from Team Nick, of course!

Los Haitises National Park
Arguably one of the most stunning areas in the country, Los Haitises National Park is a 2-hour ride from Nick Resort Punta Cana, boasting crystal clear waters, partly-submerged mountains covered in lush vegetation, hiking caves with ancient Taino paintings and much more. These sights will be as unforgettable as the memories you’ll make.

Montana Redondo Swing
This excursion is truly one ‘for the ‘gram.’ Located 1 hour and 30 minutes away from Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana (and on the way to Los Haitises!), this hike up a lush green hill ends with a large swing overlooking mountainous landscapes. No filter needed.

Isla Saona
Located on the southeastern tip of the country, Isla Saona is a tropical island which is maintained as a government-protected nature reserve. A day trip to visit will guarantee you turquoise oceans, untouched beaches and the chance to enjoy snorkeling, boat rides and other water adventures.

Los Tres Ojos
Created by tectonic fracturing, Los Tres Ojos (or, ‘the three eyes’) is a collection of 3 underwater caves originally inhabited by the Taino Indians. One contains sulphurous water, the second salt water and the third (and largest) fresh water. Travelers can enjoy swimming in the lakes, as well as tour the entire area filled with stalagmites, stalactites, local fauna and unique wildlife.

Make memories with your family
More than anything, the time spent with your family will be the best thing about your trip. After all, how often do you get to escape with the entire group to paradise, eat delicious food, stay in luxurious accommodations, get Slimed AND explore a beautiful country?!

We at Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana believe that you’re never too old to pull a good prank… or to fall for one. And while family vacations are the perfect opportunity to come together and disconnect from reality, they’re also the perfect time to get extra playful and let out your inner mischief maker. Here are 5 pranks and surprises to pull at Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana so you can be the ultimate prankster.

The Funny Suntan – Mom, here’s your chance to get some laughs. While Dad’s napping at the main infinity pool, you grab a bottle of sunscreen and ever so carefully draw a funky design like a happy face on him… just make sure he’s already previously applied, so he doesn’t end up looking like a happy lobster.

The Ball-Pit Monster – Dad, this one’s for you. Plan to head to Just Kiddin’ Kids Club at 9am before the morning rush – and just before Mom brings the kids. Once you see them coming, burrow into the ball pit and hide under the green & orange balls. Then, as the kids zip their way down the super awesome two-story slide into the pit, you jump up for a classic scare. Just make sure Mom is standing by with the camera to catch those priceless expressions!

The Not So Lazy River – Kids, here’s your revenge! After splishing and splashing around Aqua Nick, Mom and Dad are relaxing in their inner tubes. Now’s the perfect time to grab the splash hoses and see if you can topple them into the Lazy River… Just don’t be surprised if they pay you back when you least expect it!

The Surprise Pizza Party! – Now’s the time for Mom and Dad to join forces to become the most fun parents ever. While the kids are splashing in the swim-up, call up room service and put in an order for an all-you-can-eat pizza delivery (we like pineapple but that’s just us). The best part about this one is that since Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana is Gourmet Inclusive, you can order complimentary room service 24 hours a day. After all, the only thing better than a pizza party is a pizza party on vacation.

The ‘How Did I End Up Getting Slimed?’ – Getting Slimed is the greatest surprise of all. Here’s how to set the kids up for the ultimate Nickelodeon honor. Mom, tell your little one you made a mommy & me reservation at Vassa Spa. Dad, tell your mini-me you reserved the archery fields for a private lesson at the Sports Hub (you can totally do this, by the way). Blindfold them for extra suspense and remove just as they sit down on the Slimulator. And then boom – Epic Sliming! ALL THE FEELS.

P.S. – This may go without saying, but did any of this even happen if you didn’t post it on social media? #NickResortPuntaCana

At Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana, kids and kids at heart can experience five-star luxury with a playful twist, ten Gourmet Inclusive restaurants and bars, Slime time at Aqua Nick, and endless beach moments with the family. Best of all, they have plenty of opportunities to meet, greet, high-three, hug and dance with their favorite Nickelodeon characters – including Patrick Star.

If you’re looking to spend some time with Patrick, you can find him at various parts of the property – but mostly at Zest Restaurant during weekly Pajama Jam Character Breakfasts. Not only do you get to watch him bust a move in his jammies, you can dance with him, get his autograph and eat a special breakfast with pancakes and other Slimetastic delights. You can also catch Patrick at character pop-ups and meet & greets at Nickelodeon Place.

Now, if you’re looking to truly escape to Bikini Bottom and adopt more of Patrick’s simple lifestyle, here are some key facts about your favorite sea star to help you vacation like Patrick.

Patrick’s favorite activity is lying dormant. For your vacation-like-Patrick mindset, think lounging on beach beds that come with butler service, enjoying massages at Vassa Spa, and working on that golden tan.

Patrick loves hanging at the Krusty Krab. And you’ll love BRGRS.PH, a Gourmet Inclusive eatery with craft burgers, sandwiches and all kinds of milkshakes. Just don’t try to order a Krabby Patty!

Patrick’s favorite food is ice cream. Sugarcane has a self-serve ice cream station during every lunch and dinner service. And if your plans lead somewhere other than Sugarcane, you can enjoy ice cream for dessert at every restaurant AND during 24-hour room service. Oh, yeah!

Patrick loves jelly-fishing. Welp, don’t try this one at home, kids.

Patrick can’t swim. But you can! Between the awesome infinity pool, our swim-up suites, Aqua Nick and the pristine Caribbean beach, there’s no end of places to get your aquatics on.

Patrick has a bad memory. For you, this just means you’ll have to order another piña colada. After all, you’re on vacation!

One of the struggles in planning a family vacation is finding enough time. Between school, work and day-to-day things, life can get pretty busy. Luckily, Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana is the perfect long weekend getaway option. Just enough time to escape from reality, and be back in the game come Monday morning. Here’s a fool-proof itinerary that lets the entire family experience every aspect of the five-star Gourmet Inclusive resort in three days.

Day One, Friday
After a short ride from the airport, arrive at the resort and check in with champagne for the grownups & Slime smoothies for the kiddos. Once you’ve settled into your suite (and jumped on the bed of course), head to BRGRS.PH for some pre-beach sustenance. Gorge on gourmet burgers with goat cheese & caramelized onions while the kids enjoy French fries, sliders & Oreo milkshakes. Don’t worry parents, you can enjoy adult versions of these milkshakes too.

Once you’ve powered up, it’s time to check out the beach! Scope out the super sleek infinity pool and make your way to sun-loungers right on the sand to catch some afternoon rays. Beach butlers will assist you with all your beverage needs and provide sand toys to keep the small fry busy. Pro-tip: don’t forget the sunscreen despite how breezy it may be!

After the beach, head back to your room to take a siesta and freshen up for dinner. You’re probably pooped from traveling and settling in with the whole crew, so we recommend Sugarcane, the food display of all food displays for your final meal of the day. Here, everyone chooses what they crave whether it’s fresh carvings of prime rib, personal made-to-order pasta, or French fries and pizza. After dinner, walk through the Gourmet Plaza and enjoy the live music & market with a nightcap.

Day Two, Saturday
Rise and shine bright and early to make the 8 am Pajama Jam Character Breakfast with SpongeBob, Dora, the Fairly OddParents, and Paw Patrol (reserve this with your personal concierge when you arrive to guarantee a spot). Don’t forget to get their autographs!

Once you’re done with breakfast, make your way to Nick Place for some fun, sun, and Slime (you are at a Nickelodeon Resort, after all!). Grab a floatie and take a lap or two in the lazy river, followed by Slime time with Team Nick. This may arguably be the most memorable part of your trip, crossing off bucket list items for every member of the family. Afterwards, grab a table at Aqua Bite for a poolside lunch of gourmet pizzas, smoothies and wraps.

Now it’s time to drop off the little ones at Just Kiddin’ Kids Club, where they can play all day under the watchful supervision of trained professionals. This gives parents a chance to check out Vassa Spa (helloo couples massage), take advantage of 3 swim-up bars, or walk down miles of golden sandy beach. Or why not all three?

After you reunite with the kids, head back to your suite and get ready for dinner. Our suggestion tonight is Spacewalker, where the cuisine is out of this world. Don’t forget to request the astronaut helmets for picture-perfect Instagrams. Once you’ve landed back on Earth, pop on over to Vino Vino and enjoy live music and a game of pool with craft cocktails.

Day Three: Sunday
Time to explore! Book an excursion with your personal concierge to check out the beauty of Punta Cana. A snorkeling trip, eco-hike through the jungle, or cultural visit to the country’s capital, Santo Domingo, awaits you. Make sure to try some authentic ‘mangu’ – a plantain-based dish that’s a local favorite.

When you get back to the resort, pop into Nick Place for a selfie with SpongeBob, and then spend some time at Fresco for fresh ceviche and drinks at the swim-up pool bar. By this point, you may be tired – so you may want to kick back and order room service for the gang. But we’re inclined to recommend one final dinner out at Verdello, where you can devour Italian favorites like risotto, octopus and classic spaghetti.

Day Four: Monday
Sleep in a little and order room service for the whole family. We’re thinking eggs Benedict, chorizo sausage, crispy hash browns, fresh fruit and warm croissants. After that, head to the infinity pool for one last cannonball and piña colada. Finally, arrange for the bellboy to pick up you and your luggage via golf cart and begin the checkout process. It’s time to depart the land of Slime, sand, and sun – for now.

We know. We’ll miss you too.
